Hever Castle
Sunday August 15th 2010 - Warbleton Brass Band Keep Their Heads. Hever Castle Debut.
Hever Castle-debut recital-thousands of visitors-threat of execution-no pressure then !! In order to obviate the accusation of tardiness the writer arrived at the venue two hours early and at the appointed hour the Warbleton
Brass Band struck up the opening bars of NFB and there was no looking back back-the weather was perfect, the audience appreciative and we had a big blow ahead of us.
Lunch resembled feeding time for the gannets as cakes, teas and the remains of yesterday's sandwiches were
consumed-one member of the back row-he of the David Bailey proclivities-showed us exactly how to demolish doorstep cheese and onion ! On the arrival of King Henry V111 and his mounted entourage there was a scramble amongst the rose growers for shovels and buckets and after the jousting the band played on. Prior to the rendition
Alicante the percussionist was heard to admit that while he had no castanets he would shake his maraccas with verve-Verve no less !
The Conquest of Paradise was a triumph and I hear that The Almighty has booked the band to play it as an accompaniment to the End of the World !! The writer hopes it is not presumptuous to suggest that the recital
was very well received and we thank our visiting musicians for their valuable contribution.
See and hear the Warbleton Brass Band at their next engagement at Burwash Common fete on Saturday
September 11th from 2.00pm. Like brass ? Love Warbleton Brass Band !

Saturday August 14th 2010 - WOW!!
This is one of those rare occasions where I shall write this report in the first person and I shall be brief. Manda and I wanted to share our love and affection with all the friends who have supported us during the twenty five years of our marriage, hence the occasion at Dunn Village Hall. We thank the band from the bottom of our hearts, especially the MD who gave me a purpose. We hope you enjoyed it- the comments we have received have all been glowing and, yes, the Turb Team are looking for wing walkers !! With our love, Brian and Amanda.xx
Cowbeech Flower Show
Sunday August 8th 2010 - Warbleton Wows WW2 Whoopee !!
What a simply marvellous engagement this turned out to be ! The weather played ball and the band played on-to the extent that one or two lips were beginning to go-but ,boy, they sounded good. Many thanks to Sam the drummer and congratulations to him for coping with unfamiliar music-he handled it like a pro. The writer was honoured to be sitting next to the MD who was debuting on solo horn . Intimidating? Well, yes actually, for a bit, but the writer need not have worried as he has been so well taught that he dare not put a foot wrong. At one stage an aeroplane had a good look at proceedings but it was one of ours. The whole event was simply delightful and the visitors were very appreciative. The Band finished in traditional style with its rendering of Sussex and they then wished ' Happy Birthday' to First Bari. What a lovely afternoon ! See and hear the Warbleton Brass Band at Hever Castle next Sunday from 12.00.

Concert on the Green Sunday August 1st 2010
This concert was an evening event coming hard on the heels of the Flower Show and although the weather was not as one should expect for the beginning of August at least it didn't rain. The Band turned out in full uniform and looked really splendid;they were joined by a small but appreciative audience who enjoyed a number of new arrangements which included Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance and Henry Wood's Sea Fantasia. In the evening light the whole event looked very atmospheric and was warmly applauded. Our thanks to guest musicians who enhanced the sound and it is hoped that the Concert on the Green will become an annual event.

Warbleton Flower Show - Rushlake Green
Saturday July 31st 2010 - The Duckznchuckz Ensemble.
After a short break the full strength band assembled at their home venue to provide entertainment throughout the afternoon;well, that was plan... but... ' he who pays the piper...' No gazebo this year but a negotiated site next to the maquee, twixt the duckznchuckz and the road.
An extensive programme was listed,alas-due to the somewhat haphazard communication and competition with the dog show - an abbreviated programme was presented, despite the exhortations of the large audience who were clearly enjoying the music more than the canine capers in the main ring. Such is life-the writer wonders what it would be like trying to play a brass programme at Crufts !!
The new uniform caps were issued, solving the problem of individual choice of head gear. The engagement ended with a rousing version of the Floral Dance, accompanied by dancing from younger members of the audience and as the chuckznduckz vied with the canine chorus the Warbleton Brass Band melted away.

Bodle Street Green Village Fete
Saturday July 3rd 2010 - Sardines!!.
The Warbleton Brass Band assembled at the unusually named venue of Bodle Street Green in simply wonderful weather. The ' Green ' was perhaps something of an optimistic description, but like packing a suitcase for a holiday-you can get it all in if you really want to. So it proved as the players squeezed under the shelter of the gazebo-all,that is,except the back row,the MD and percussion; a belated warm welcome to him-the whole band really appreciates his expertise. The fete had everything and the sunny weather was a joy.
The MD was confident that the band could set the tone for the afternoon by starting with Mecklenburg and so it proved-perhaps the sound was enhanced by the bijou nature of the seating-but it did sound good and was greeted with ripples of appreciative applause. At the interval delicious cheese biscuits were provided by the flugly and
chocolate brownies were offered from the bass department in celebration of a birthday. Scrummy! The absence of the Games Mistress meant that the Gentlemen claimed a victory by default and the Ladies missed a golden opportunity here - perhaps something to do with too much sun, delicate complexions etc.etc. Bad luck,Ladies. Before the final set a lively discussion was had regarding the most effective ways of using aerosol sprays when house training pets;Warbleton Brass Band always seeks to maintain a high moral plain - and a high level of hilarity. The rendition of 'Sussex' brought proceedings to a close and a very pleasant time was had by all. Sincere thanks to visiting musicians who contributed so much to the afternoon.
The band can be seen and heard at Warbleton Flower Show on Saturday July 31.

Laughton Village Fete
Saturday June 26th 2010 - A Lovely Summer Day.
After the challenge of Punnetts Town,in which the band showed that duty triumphed over adversity,Warbleton Brass Band assembled under the familiar oak tree, close to,the tea and cakes, in simply lovely, balmy Summer weather.
With the MD,her of the iron baton, and others playing with Brass Fusion at Henfield,we were endebted to helpers- which included he of the Keira Knightly fan club and with the amazing sight reading, which was,well,amazing-it says here !
He called the tunes and the band responded with a really rich, warm sound. The slight glitch at the start of YMCA was not of Apollo 13 proportions and the band played on.
Laughton was the venue of the writer's first engagement with Warbleton Brass Band a mere two years ago. Has he made any progress ? Well,he can distinguish the difference between a quaver and a Mars bar so that's something ! On to the silly game-bowling-which was conclusively won by the Gentlemen-one of whose number recorded a remarkable total which created a certain amount of disquiet among the Ladies;just not good enough girls.
After the traditional conclusion with the playing ' Sussex ' the band were invited to play more by two members of the Glynde and Beddingham band but with contractual obligations fulfilled, the performance was over.
See and hear the band at Bodle Street Green Fete on Saturday July 3rd from 2pm.
